Remembering East Bay LGBTQ Communities
Graphic Design, Web Design, Virtual Reality
2015
San Francisco is very well known for its large LGBTQ community. For example, Castro Camera – now the Human Rights Campaign Action Center, was the home and campaign headquarters of Harvey Milk – the first openly gay man to win an elected office. We all are mostly familiar with the historic places of the LGBTQ community in San Francisco, but not many have heard of the communities of the East Bay. Most of the buildings that were safe spaces for the LGBTQ community of the East Bay in the 50’s to the 90’s have gone out of business and forgotten. This project is aimed to shed light on those buildings and spaces that were significant to so many people.
